Refund and Cancellation Policy

1. Scope

This policy applies to course fees paid to iAB for a programme you have applied for or registered on. It forms part of the iAB Terms and Conditions. Where this policy and those Terms differ on refunds, this policy applies.

2. Statutory Rights

Nothing in this policy removes or limits any cancellation, cooling-off, refund or other right you have under Botswana law and which cannot lawfully be excluded. Botswana's Electronic Communications and Transactions Act contains consumer protections for transactions concluded electronically, including a cooling-off provision and a provision preventing those protections from being excluded by agreement. If you register through this website and a statutory cancellation right applies to you, that right takes precedence over everything else in this policy. We are finalising the exact statutory period with our legal advisers and will state it here; until we do, contact us and we will apply whatever the law requires, not whatever is most convenient for us.

3. Registration and Administration Component

Subject to any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law, including the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and the Consumer Protection Act, the P400 registration and administration component is not refundable, because it covers work we have already done in processing your application, verifying your documents and setting up your registration. Where a statutory cancellation right applies to you, that right takes precedence over this clause.

Subject to any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law, including the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and the Consumer Protection Act, once you are registered and your course has commenced you remain liable for the full course fee, whether or not you attend classes, access the online materials, submit the assignments, sit the examination, withdraw, or stop taking part. Attendance is not what triggers the liability. Your registration and the commencement of the contracted course are. When you register, we reserve your place, allocate your materials, and commit teaching, assessment and examination capacity for your intake, and a place we have held for you is a place another applicant could not take.

6. Easy Payment Plan

Using the Easy Payment Plan does not reduce your total liability. The instalments, P750 for distance or online study and P1,600 for in-class study, are a way of spreading the total course price over time, not payment for the parts of the course you use. If you stop studying after your course has commenced, the instalments that have not yet fallen due do not automatically fall away, subject always to your statutory rights and to the extraordinary circumstances provisions below.

7. Extraordinary Circumstances

We know that serious things happen. You may apply for a refund, a partial refund, a fee waiver, a fee exemption, or an alternative arrangement such as deferral to a later intake, on the grounds of extraordinary circumstances such as serious illness, bereavement, or another significant event outside your control. Apply in writing with any supporting evidence you can reasonably provide. We may ask for further evidence. Every application is considered individually on its own facts, and we cannot promise in advance that one will be granted. We will record our decision and the reasons for it, tell you the outcome, and where we approve a refund we will explain how it was calculated. Your statutory rights are unaffected either way.

8. Refund Calculation

Any deduction we make will be lawful, reasonable and explained. We will not automatically refund the whole of a first instalment, because the registration and administration component sits inside it. Approved refunds are paid to the person or organisation that paid the fee, by electronic transfer, once we have confirmed the account details through a channel we trust. We will never ask you for your banking details by WhatsApp or in reply to an unexpected message.

9. Outstanding Fees and Recovery

Instalments are due by the 7th calendar day of the applicable month. If one is missed, a late payment fee of P100 per month applies while it remains overdue. We will contact you first and give you a reasonable opportunity to pay or to agree an arrangement. To the extent the law allows and after appropriate notice, we may then suspend your access to myiAB while the amount is outstanding, withhold your results, withhold your certificate, refer the account to an external debt-collection agency, or institute legal proceedings, and we may claim reasonable and lawful costs of recovery. We will act firmly but fairly, and we will not use harassment, coercion or unfair tactics.

10. How to Apply

Write to registrations@iab.co.bw as soon as you decide to cancel or to apply for a refund, saying what you are asking for and giving your name, programme, intake and application reference. We will confirm receipt, tell you what applies, and process any refund due without undue delay.
